Mathematics, Physics, and Earth Sciences

This major comprises three courses − Mathematical Sciences, which studies mathematics within the context of contemporary basic science; Physics; and Earth Evolution and Environment, which studies the earth sciences. Striving to discover the various rules and laws hidden within natural phenomena, this major conducts education and research with the aim of solving the problems found in these fields.

Environmental Function Science

This major has been created to expand education and research by linking the sciences that take atoms and molecules as their subject, the life sciences, and environmental science, at times taking them as an integrated field. The results of this linkage are reflected in solutions to many contemporary problems. The major consists of two courses – Molecular Science, Biology and Environmental Science − both of which collaborate in carrying out education and research in a complex field that assumes a new viewpoint.

Asian Disaster Management Special Course

The 21st century is said to be a century of natural disasters. In particular, many natural disasters occur in Asia, and every year many lives are lost. Thus clarifying the mechanisms of the occurrence of natural disasters and various way of managing them are urgent tasks. In this course students can study the mechanisms behind earthquake and climate-related disasters, measures for disaster damage reduction , disaster management, disaster management informatics, and so on. The Course conducts research on the management of earthquake, landslide, and flood disasters in Asia, in particular, and aims to produce disaster management engineers and researchers who will work in Asian countries where many disasters occur.

Special Course Name of Degree
Asian Disaster Management Special Course Master of Engineering (Doctoral course first half)
Doctor of Engineering (Doctoral course second half)

Asian Environmental Science Special Course

This course welcomes students from developing Asian countries, to whom Ehime University provides scholarship funds, and trains people to work around the world as researchers and technicians in fields related to environmental science. As part of the distinctive curriculum, students are required to participate in internships in companies where they come into contact with advanced technology and in actual field investigations with faculty members of the Center for Marine Environmental Studies and the Graduate School of Science and Engineering, allowing them to learn in a wide range of places related to environmental science. All classes are taught in English.
