The Super Science Special Courses began accepting undergraduate students in April 2005. Ehime University is training talented people who can lead the next generation and play a role globally in fields related to the university's three world-class research centers. This program is unique within Japan, with many features not found in other universities. In addition to the special classes established for the students of the Super Science Special Courses, specialized classes in the Faculties of Science, Engineering, and Agriculture may be taken. The students belonging to the Special Courses may take advantage of an original curriculum and special registration rules free of the usual faculty restrictions.

The Super Science Special Courses have been selected by the “Project for Support of Students in Science and Mathematics” of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. This program devises testing methods and develops and puts into practice educational programs for the purpose of discovering and developing students with strong interest and ability in the fields of science and mathematics.
