Purpose

The International Center was established in April 2006, and in April 2009 it has become the Institute for International Cooperation in accordance with increased emphasis that Ehime University, is placing on enriching and strengthening international exchange among students, building international networks, and contributing to the development of international exchange and of human resources at Ehime University.

Outline of the Facility

In order to promote specific international exchange activities, the International Center is actively involved in the following four main activities.

  • Support of academic exchange
  • Support of student exchange (Education and support of Japanese and foreign exchange students)
  • Creation of international networks
  • Research and planning related to international exchange

The Institute is comprised of three entities: the Center for International Education, the Asia-Africa Center and the Office of International Planning. In addition, international exchange assistants, career consultants to aid international students seeking employment, and research assistants with experience in international cooperation, such as through JICA, are part of the staff. The Institute is prepared to coordinate communication between the university and institutions within Japan and abroad regarding international exchange.

Brief Introduction

In addition to the acceptance or dispatch of researchers, teaching faculty, staff, and students, support for academic exchange involves developing and strengthening ties with institutions with which the university has academic agreements. In the area of international contribution, support for the countries of south, southeast, and north Asia, in particular, is being strengthened. Regarding support for students, support for long-term foreign study for Japanese students, support for international students’ searches for employment, and an environment for international exchange on campus is organized and improved. This center strives to be the driving force for the internationalization of Ehime University, with a flexible system of international exchange that meets the circumstances and requests for international exchange from within and without the university.
