Purpose

The Ehime University Library, in line with the basic philosophy of Ehime University, plays a role as an academic information base for the development of people who have the ability to learn, think, and act on their own and who will lead the next generation with pride and deep humanity. In addition, it accumulates the results of a broad range of academic research and provides a comfortable atmosphere for using them. The Library is conscious of its primary responsibility, as part of a university grounded in the region, to cultivate people useful to the region who will lead in its development. Through cooperation and collaboration with the region, the Library supports independent study activities.

Outline of the Facility

The University Library, which supports the education and research of the university, consists of the Main Library on the Johoku campus and branches at the School of Medicine Shigenobu campus and the Faculty of Agriculture Tarumi campus. They are open in the evening, as well as during the day. The Main Library seats more than 600 and maintains a collection of 1.01 million volumes, along with approximately 13,100 magazine and journal titles. Along with library use and loan, duplication services and support for information literacy education are available. In addition, the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), access to other prefectural university libraries, electronic journals, and access to various databases and digital contents of materials in the university's possession are provided. Computer corners, a multi-media corner where DVDs and other audio-visual materials can be used, and group study rooms are also available.

Brief Introduction

The Main Library, along with providing support for students' learning activities and the educational and research activities of the academic staff, is a facility offering various types of information related to learning and research.

Following the remodeling completed on March 29, 2008, various new features such as the “Study Room Where It's All Right To Talk” (known as “Shiki's Room”) are available, and the Library is working to provide even more services for its users.
