The Center of Excellence (COE) for Coastal Marine Environmental Research, Ehime University, Japan is holding an international symposium in November 2006. This is the fourth international symposium organized under the COE program for Coastal Marine Environmental Research. The first symposium in March 2004 and the second one during September 2004 focused on “Environmental Behavior and Ecological Impacts of Persistent Toxic Substances” and “Long-term Variations in the Coastal Environments and Ecosystems”, respectively. The third symposium in March 2005 dealt on various types of pollution in Asian developing countries. This fourth symposium will transact on broad environmental sciences following the foot steps on the first and second symposia and highlights pioneering studies by young scientists.
