The commemorative ceremony included the announcement and award presentation of the 60th anniversary logo, which had been solicited from the public, and a commemorative lecture by Mr. Yukichi Amano, Honorary Director of the Matsuyama Shiki Memorial Museum. In addition, an opening ceremony and preview of the museum were held, followed by a commemorative celebration at the ANA Matsuyama Hotel with many guests in attendance.<\/p>\n\n

The first floor is equipped with long-term and short-term accommodations, and the second floor houses the Umirayiku kitchen for Aminamachi’s fish food education and a university laboratory. The Center for Advanced High Pressure Science and Technology (CAXS), as a Joint Usage\/Collaborative Research Center (a facility accredited by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as a center that can be used jointly by researchers across Japan beyond the boundaries of universities), will conduct interdisciplinary joint research in the fields of earth and planetary science, physics, chemistry, materials science, life science, etc. using high pressure, with the Research Center for Deep Earth Dynamics of Ehime University at its core. Institute for International Relations has launched an educational program to promote understanding of Japanese companies and internships for international students seeking employment at Japanese companies. The program was initially launched in 2007 as the “Global Human Resources Development Program for Collaboration with the World” adopted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and was continued from 2011 with university budget. In FY 2009, the program was again adopted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as one of 12 centers in Japan, and a new “Program for Developing Highly Skilled Foreign Human Resources Nurtured by Ehime Universities and Businesses” has been developed, with more than 50 students, including Japanese students.<\/p>\n\n

The Faculty of Collaborative Regional Innovation, through an endowed chair established by Iyo Bank, held the “Social Co-Creation Contest 2017” for high school students from all over Japan to compete for ideas, activity achievements, and research results to solve problems in local communities. This contest was held again in FY 2018 and received more applications than the previous year; it is planned to continue in FY 2019 and beyond.<\/p>\n\n
