On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, H.E. Mr. Sibi George, Indian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Japan, paid a courtesy visit to the President of Ehime University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, Ambassador Sibi George explained the current situation of Indian students studying in Japan and raised some issues. Currently, there are approximately 1.8 million Indian students studying abroad, but only around a thousand of these are studying in Japan. The reasons for this include insufficient recognition of Japan as a place to study for higher education, the difficulty of finding work in Japan after graduation, and the limited number of Japanese government-sponsored foreign students. Ehime University then explained the situation of international students enrolled at the university and its initiatives, such as Career Development Program for Employment of International Students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afterwards, the event moved to the Alumni Association, where Ambassador Sibi George gave an interactive lecture based on the similarities in culture and religion between India and Japan,The participants listened attentively. At the end of the lecture, a commemorative photo was taken with the Ambassador, and many participants left the venue looking satisfied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Institute for International Relations will strive to develop international education by enhancing information dissemination, support systems, and employment support in order to increase the number of Indian students and strengthen support for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
