On Monday, September 2, 2024, Ehime University and Maputo University in Mozambique concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Academic Exchange and an Agreement on Student Exchange online. The purpose of this conclusion is to further deepen exchanges between the two universities in the fields of education and research, <\/s>and to promote the mutual dispatch of students and faculty members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ehime University\u2019s exchange with universities in Mozambique began in August 2008. At that time, Rector Ferrao of Maputo University was the Rector of Lurio University in that country and has been promoting academic exchange with Ehime University since that time. This long-standing cooperative relationship has been the foundation for the conclusion of this MoU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The signing ceremony was attended by Ehime University President Nishina Hiroshige, Executive Director and Vice President Mitsunobu Kazuhiro (International Relations), and Special Aide to the President Kobayashi Osamu (International Relations) at the Ehime University venue. Associate Professor Kurita Hideyuki (International Relations) of Ehime University and one student from Ehime University Senior High School participated at Maputo University. Five teachers and four students, including Mr. Yoshimura Naomichi, Principal of Ehime University Senior High School, also participated online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the signing ceremony, a seminar on the theme of \u201cSDGs and the Role of Higher Education\u201d was held. From Ehime University, Special Aide to the President Kobayashi offered his perspective on academic collaboration, while from Maputo University Professor \u3000\u3000\u3000Herieta Massango and Professor Malaquias Tsambe spoke on the relationship between higher education and the SDGs, and Professor Juv\u00eancio Nota spoke on the challenges of women\u2019s participation in STEM fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ehime University\u2019s Institute for International Relations sends a faculty member to Maputo University every year to further strengthen academic collaborations between the two institutions through local educational activities and research exchanges. Through this MoU, Ehime University aims to further promote exchanges between the two universities, thereby contributing to the development of education and research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
