On Sunday, December 21, 2025, the 22nd Foreign Students’ Japanese Speech Contest in Ehime 2025 was held at the Nankai Broadcasting Honmachi Kaikan. This contest is for international students living in Ehime Prefecture, and this was the 22nd time it was held.<\/p>\n\n

This year, 15 international students from 9 countries and regions studying at technical colleges, junior colleges, universities, and graduate schools in the prefecture, and 4 from Ehime University, participated in the contest.<\/p>\n\n

The contest was broadcast live on Nankai Broadcasting Corporation radio and streamed live worldwide via the Nankai Broadcasting Corporation website.<\/p>\n\n

The audience was filled with laughter and excitement as the contestants gave humorous speeches about the differences between their home countries and Japan, what they have gained through studying abroad, and the meaning of katakana. The level of the speeches improved each time the contest was held, and the judging was very difficult, but one of Ehime University’s contestants won a prize.<\/p>\n\n

One contestant commented, “I was not nervous at all until the day of the speech contest, but as soon as it was my turn to present, I got nervous. I think this experience will encourage me to study Japanese in the future.<\/p>\n\n

After the contest, the contestants took pictures with each other and the judges mingled with the contestants, making it a memorable day for the contestants, the audience, and the management staff.<\/p>\n\n

Ehime University will continue to promote the internationalization of its campus not only by providing Japanese language education and other support for international students, but also by collaborating with the local community.<\/p>\n\n
