The Ehime University Award for Young Scientists in Biological Sciences was established in 2028 with a donation from Professor Satoshi Suzuki of the Center for Coastal Environmental Sciences (now Professor Emeritus) to the Ehime University Young Researcher Support Fund to “encourage young researchers who are conducting original research in the field of biological sciences. The recipient of the award will receive an incentive grant of 100,000 yen or other funds to cover research expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Tatsuya Konishi<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

In the last 5 years, he has published 21 original papers in English (including 4 papers with IF 5 or more), 9 of which he was the first author, including one in Blood (IF 20.3) and one in Cancer Science (IF 6.5). His research concept involves an important basic technology that will contribute to the development of drugs for the treatment of graft-versus-host disease after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, an important complication that significantly affects the prognosis of hematopoietic tumors, and aims to realize selective immunosuppression in the intestinal tract, which cannot be achieved with existing systemic immunosuppression technology. The results of this research are also expected to contribute to the development of other immunosuppressive diseases. Furthermore, the research results have a high potential to be applied to other immunological diseases, and are expected to have a large ripple effect on society. Mr. Hiroho Takeda<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

He has published three original papers in English (all with IF 5 or more), including two as first author, one in Nature Structural and Molecular Biology (IF 18.4) and one in Nature (IF 69.5), in the last five years. In the last 5 years, he has published 10 original papers in English (4 with IF 5 or more), including one each in the Journal of Clinical Investigation and Cell Communication And Signaling (both with IF 5 or more) as the first author. The research concept has been unknown for a long time. His research concept is very original and of a high level, aiming to elucidate the sex-specific mechanisms of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and systemic scleroderma, which have been unknown for a long time, by focusing on the functional analysis of sex hormone receptors expressed on macrophages.
