A student exchange agreement with the Department of Mathematics, Uppsala University, Sweden

  The Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Ehime University has concluded an inter-departmental academic agreement of student exchange with the Department of Mathematics, Uppsala University, Sweden.

  Uppsala University is the oldest university in Northern Europe, established in 1477. It is also a prestigious national university, consisting of 9 faculties in three major fields: Humanities and Social Sciences, Medicine and Pharmacy, and Science and Technology. Uppsala University has produced 15 Nobel Prize winners and many other prominent scientists, including the famous botanist, Carl von Linné.

  Dr. Martin Herschend of the Department of Mathematics, Uppsala University, visited Ehime University on October 30-31, when the agreement was concluded by Dean Takahashi of the Graduate School of Science and Engineering.

  Through this agreement, it is hoped that the two universities will promote the exchange of undergraduate and graduate students, and short-term exchange programs in the area of mathematics.
