On Friday, September 19, 2025, Ehime University held a presentation of the results of the Internship + Career Education “SDGs and Business Solutions for International and Japanese Students Together” at the Johoku Campus. 37 participants including students, companies, faculty and staff of the program attended.
The objective of this course is to foster problem-solving skills through learning and practice in a multicultural environment under the theme of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). This year, international students, Japanese students, and employees of five companies in the prefecture (Aikame Corporation, Kameoka Gas Sales Corporation, Sanyo Bussan Corporation, Justin Corporation, and Watanabe Corporation) formed teams and worked together for about a month and a half to solve problems through lectures, group work, and internships. On September 19, they presented the results of their efforts.
Companies commented that the program provided an opportunity to come in contact with foreign perspectives and students’ ideas, and that they were stimulated by the cultural differences from their own countries and the students’ free thinking, and that they felt it would be good to broaden the scope of recruitment to include students of any nationality.
Students also commented that they were able to learn about the relationship between the SDGs and management strategies and Japanese corporate culture through their internships at companies, and that they learned how to build business plans for companies to develop and expand their business overseas.
Despite the differences in language and culture, understanding and respecting each other’s differences, and working together to prepare group work and presentations, the participants learned the importance of accepting different cultures and values, which made for a better internship experience.
The International Student Employment Promotion Program Office will continue to promote global human resource development, career support, and promotion of foreign nationals to realize a multicultural society.
