Circle Introduction

Shorinji Kempo Club

Self-defense starting from scratch

In Shorinji Kempo competitions, there are mainly demonstrations (similar to what is known as kata) done in pairs and operational methods (so-called matches with protective gear). In daily practice, we practice techniques for each qualification, mitts, and various other methods. We also incorporate operational methods to be able to use the techniques we have practiced.

We practice on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at our own pace. We also actively participate in tournaments and provide support for those who are serious about practicing.

Every year, we have joint practices with Matsuyama University and other universities in Chugoku and Shikoku, so you can get to know people from other universities. The coach, Mr. Nobuhiko Tanaka, gives us proper technical guidance, so we can acquire skills that can be used in actual competitions.

If you are interested in Shorinji Kempo or would like to know more about what we do, please come to the 1st floor of Gymnasium 2. Beginners are welcome!
