Prof. Naito’s discovery makes the cover of Chemistry Journal “Dalton Transactions”.

A research group, represented by Prof. Toshio Naito, Graduate School of Science and Engineering, discovered a chemical substance that can store light energy. For instance, if we can make a substance luminescent one week after UV-irradiation, it means that the substance stores light during that time. That kind of substance would enable us to carry around light and use it whenever and wherever we want. It could possibly replace the present state-of-the-art technology using electricity for information and communications.

Their results were published in a scientific journal by the Royal Society of Chemistry in the UK, Dalton Transactions, available online from July 16, 2019.
