The entrance ceremony of the United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Ehime University (UGAS-EU) was held on Friday, April 10, 2026. Those attending included the Presidents of Ehime University, Kagawa University, and Kochi University, and 22 new students.
President Hiroshige Nishina of Ehime University delivered the following words of encouragement: “The three universities that constitute the United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences actively engage in academic exchange with universities and research institutions around the world, as well as in close collaboration with their respective local communities. I encourage all of you to make full use of this intellectual network, broaden your connections with society, and deepen your knowledge as highly skilled professionals.”
Mirika Yamanaka, assigned to Ehime University, replied on behalf of the incoming students: “Agricultural science is a discipline that fundamentally supports the creation of a sustainable society. Although our areas of specialization may differ, each of us is committed to pursuing research with high aspirations and sincerity, contributing to the resolution of these pressing challenges.”
After the ceremony, all attendees gathered for a commemorative group photograph. Although the weather had been unstable until the morning, the rain stopped by the time the ceremony began, allowing the group photo to be taken outdoors. The new students attended the ceremony with calm and composed expressions, each carrying their own sense of anticipation and determination as they stepped into a new academic environment. Their first steps into this new stage of learning reflected a quiet resolve for the student life that lies ahead.
