Tuition Waiver for the 2025 academic year
The following systems are available for tuition fee waiver.
Undergraduate students (excluding privately-financed international students): Support is provided through the new system of higher education study support (Japan Student Services Organization scholarship + tuition reduction/exemption). For details, click here.
Graduate students (including privately-financed international students) and students affected by the disaster (regular students): Support will be provided within budgetary limits under the tuition fee waiver system by Ehime University. Undergraduate Students
As of April 2020, undergraduate students are transitioning to the new system of higher education study support (Japan Student Services Organization scholarship + tuition reduction/exemption).
Tuition waivers under the new higher education study support system
If you apply for and are selected for the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) scholarship, your tuition will be reduced or exempted according to your aid category. You are required to apply for tuition fee reduction twice a year (online application), so please make sure to do so. If you do not apply for the tuition fee reduction within the application period, you will not be approved for the tuition fee reduction.
Scheduled application period
Continuation (*): Second half of the fiscal year / August to the end of September, first half of the following fiscal year / January to the end of March- New (Form A1): Second semester/early September, first semester of the following year/beginning of March-April
- Sudden change in household finances: as needed (within 3 months of the occurrence of the event)

Implementation of Tuition Reduction and Exemption under the New Higher Education Study Support System for the Second Semester of Academic Year 2025 (Undergraduate Students)
This system is related to tuition reduction and exemption, free tuition for multiple-children households, and scholarships for undergraduate students (regular students only, excluding privately-financed international students) under the New System for Higher Education Study Support.

Current, If you are not currently a scholarship recipient of the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) If you are a “new applicant” and wish to apply for any of the above (1) to (3), please follow the procedures [1] to [3] below.
| (1) Depending on annual household income requirements, apply for support through tuition reductions and scholarships. (2) Multiple-child households (households with three or more dependent children as of December 2024) will apply for support through free tuition, etc., depending on the requirements of multiple-child households. (iii) Multiple-child households (households with three or more dependent children as of December 2024) and household income requirements will apply for support through free tuition, etc. and scholarship payments. |

To those who have been selected as a scholarship recipient of the Japan Student Services Organization (Ehime University) and are currently “receiving” or “on leave of absence” or “suspended” from receiving the scholarship.
The following changes will be made to the handling of “Application for Continuation of Tuition Fee Reduction and Exemption” from the second semester of the 2025 academic year.
Application for continuation of tuition fee reduction for the second semester of 2025 and thereafter

Tuition Exemption by Ehime University
The tuition fee waiver by Ehime University is within budgetary limits and will be based on current academic and family financial criteria. It is not guaranteed that the full amount will be waived.

The following tuition fee waiver programs will end in the 2024 academic year (fiscal year 2024) due to the end of budget measures, and will not be implemented after the 2025 academic year (fiscal year 2025), If you are not eligible for the following tuition fee waiver programs or the New System for Supporting Higher Education Education, please contact the Student Life Support Division if you are in financial trouble. Privately Financed International Students (Undergraduate)
Tuition waiver in case of sudden change in family finances due to the impact of the new type of coronavirus (for those who received tuition waiver due to the new type of coronavirus in FY2023)
Tuition fee waiver by transitional measures (a system that provided support to undergraduate students enrolled before the 2019 academic year who are not eligible for the new system or for whom the amount of support under the new system will be reduced).

Implementation of “Post-tuition Payment System” for the Master’s Program of the Graduate School
(Secondary recruitment: only for fall admission in the 2024/2025 academic year)
- What is the Post-tuition Fee Payment System?
This is a system under which students enrolled in master’s degree programs (including master’s degree programs and professional degree programs) do not pay tuition during their enrollment, but pay it according to their income after graduation. The system allows students enrolled in master’s degree programs (including master’s degree programs and professional programs) to pay tuition based on their income after graduation (deferred payment) instead of paying it during their enrollment.
A separate “living expense scholarship” of 20,000 yen or 40,000 yen per month may also be provided.
- Eligibility]
Those who meet all of the following conditions:
➀ Those who entered the master’s level of a graduate school in Japan in the fall of 2024 or later*
➀ Those who applied through their current school based on their own request
③ Those who meet the same family financial and academic performance criteria as the Type 1 scholarship of 50,000 yen or 88,000 yen per month from the Japan Student Services Organization for master’s degree holders ➃Those who have no past delinquency in the return of their scholarship funds or other reasons for not receiving a Type 1 scholarship loan.
➃The applicant must not be ineligible for the Type 1 Scholarship for any reason, such as being in arrears in the repayment of a scholarship loan received in the past.

Privately Financed International Students (Graduate Students)
Applications for tuition fee waiver will be accepted as follows
Tuition fee waiver for students affected by the disaster (common for undergraduate, graduate, and privately-financed international students)
Students who were affected by the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake, the Great East Japan Earthquake, or other disasters in areas covered by the Disaster Relief Act and wish to apply for tuition fee waiver should apply to the Tuition Fee Waiver Desk, Student Life Support Division. Forms will be distributed.

Proof of disaster such as a certificate of disaster victimization is required. Tuition fee waiver for disaster-stricken students will be determined without considering academic standards.
For undergraduate students (excluding privately-financed international students), please also consider applying for a sudden change in household finances under the new study support system. (As a general rule, the application for sudden change of household finances must be made within three months of the occurrence of the event.)
Admission Fee Waiver System
The University has a system whereby students who have difficulty paying the entrance fee may be exempted from paying the entire or part of the fee upon application and selection by the applicant.
