On Saturday, October 12, 2024, Ehime University and Taipei City University in Taiwan concluded an inter-university agreement on academic exchange and a memorandum of understanding on student exchange.
To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Friendship Exchange Agreement between Matsuyama City and Taipei City, a delegation of 38 people, including Mayor Katsuhito Noshi, visited Taipei City from October 11 (Fri.) to 14 (Mon.), 2011. The Matsuyama delegation was joined by three members from Ehime University: Osamu Kobayashi, Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of the Institute for International Relations (IIR); Ryo Yamanaka, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Collaborative Regional Innovation; and Smiko Takimoto, Director of the Institute for International Relations (IIR).
Taipei City University is a public general university formed by the merger of Taipei City University of Education and Taipei Physical Education College in 2013. Songshan City has been implementing programs to send university students overseas to Taipei, such as the Taipei International Dragon Boat Race. Ehime University has visited Taipei City University when its students participated in the program and had an exchange experience with the university.
The agreement signing ceremony between the two universities was held at Taipei City University’s Tianmu campus. First, President Chiu Ying-Hao greeted the participants, saying, “Taipei City University is the university that has won the most Olympic gold medals in Taiwan. We have Olympic-level facilities, and we look forward to having Ehime University athletes and students come and train with us. Then, from Ehime University, Special Assistant to the President Kobayashi read the President’s greeting on behalf of NishinaHiroshige , “I hope that this agreement will be an opportunity for new development for both universities and will lead to the development of cultural exchange and research activities.
Ehime University plans to implement a short-term student dispatch program with Taipei City University, as well as to accept short-term foreign students for the purpose of participating in the foreign student employment promotion program and other programs promoted by Ehime University. In addition, Ehime University plans to develop various exchange activities with Taipei City University in cooperation with Matsuyama City.
