Technological University, Thanlyin (TUT) was originally founded in 1993 as a training school for governmental technological experts and developed into a technological university with a 4-year bachelor’s course and a 2-year master’s course in 2007. As Myanmar is being rapidly modernized by its recent democratization, training technicians is an urgent need.
We have deepened our friendship with Prof. Toshiro Tanaka’s (Graduate School of Science and Engineering) visit to TUT to conduct an inspection of laboratory safety and health in 2015. Moreover, we welcomed Dr. Kay Thi Lwin, Rector of TUT, in March 2016 and discussed the promotion of exchange activities between our two universities.
An Academic Agreement was concluded between TUT and Ehime University on October 19th, 2016. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Win Thurein, Associate Professor of the International Relations Office of TUT. After President Ohashi’s welcoming speech and signing the agreement, they talked about the possibility of further exchange opportunities including the Sakura Exchange Program in Science, in which we will welcome three undergraduate students from TUT for a short study program in December 2016.
During his stay at Ehime University, Dr. Win Thurein attended a Safety Management Seminar and visited laboratories to see how safety is ensured.
Ehime University will continue to promote educational and academic exchanges for the development of global human resources.
