Ehime University’s Action for Torrential Rain of 2018

In response to the record torrential rain which hit many parts of West Japan, we, Ehime University, have been dispatching students, faculty and staff members as volunteers to the disaster-stricken areas in the southern part of Ehime Prefecture. As of August 22, 875 students and 279 faculty and staff members have gone to help remove muddy water and dirt, clean, sort garbage and distribute relief goods by collaborating with the Volunteer Center.

Ehime University has been supporting these activities by arranging free bus services from the campus to the stricken areas and providing necessary items for volunteer work.

In addition, we have sent administrative staff each weekday to contribute to the continuous restoration of local communities.

On August 23, President Yuichi Ohashi gave Tokihiro Nakamura, governor of Ehime Prefecture, 3.7 million yen (U.S. $33,000) as a relief donation collected from Ehime University.

Ehime University students, faculty and staff members are all united and determined to support the victims of the disaster. We hope that they will be able to get back to their normal life so soon as possible.
