The Institute for International Relations conducted a recruitment project to attract outstanding international students. Current international students enrolled at our university served as recruiters and were dispatched online to their respective alma maters. They held information sessions to introduce the university’s unique initiatives and strengths, and actively promoted the university.
First, on Wednesday, January 21, Rahrai Zaka Llola, a first-year student in the Master’s Program of the Graduate School of Agricultural Science, gave a presentation to 54 students from Kamar State High School in the Republic of Indonesia. In addition to introducing Ehime University’s campus and faculty, he explained what made him decide to study in Japan, to which the participants listened attentively. At the end of the session, participants actively asked many questions about life in Matsuyama, etc. On January 30 (Fri.), an information session was held for the Institute of Technology Surabaya in Indonesia, with 88 students in attendance. The scholarship system and features of the classes were explained in detail, making it a meaningful exchange.
Next, on Thursday, February 19, Pandit Kalpana, a second-year student in the Master’s Program of the Graduate School of Science and Engineering, gave a presentation to Tribhuvan University in Nepal. He mainly introduced the Graduate School of Science and Engineering, which provided an opportunity for the participating students to pursue their studies in Japan. Finally, on Thursday, March 26, Mafosa Temberire, a research student in the Faculty of Education, gave a presentation to Hillside Teachers University in the Republic of Zimbabwe, which was attended by seven students. The presentation not only introduced Ehime University and its activities, but also included photos of Matsuyama’s rent and other interesting information. After the introduction, the students asked questions about the application process, showing the high level of interest in Ehime University.
At all of the information sessions, we showed an English-language promotional video produced in collaboration between one of our university’s alumni and a video production company. The video effectively highlighted the appeal of Ehime University from the perspective of international students.
We have high hopes that these activities will lead to an increase in the number of international students and help attract outstanding students in the future.
