Indonesian Summer Festival 2018 was held

In commemoration of Indonesia’s Independence Day, PPI-Ehime, the Indonesian Student Union, held “Indonesian Summer Festival 2018” on Johoku Campus on August 19th 2018, for the purpose of promoting exchanges with local communities by introducing a variety of Indonesian cultures.

A summer festival of this kind has been held for the third consecutive year on Johoku Campus. A lot of participants from in and out of the university came to enjoy the festival at the gorgeously decorated venue by Indonesian students in red and white to resemble the Indonesian national flag. At the opening ceremony, Indonesian children in colorful ethnic costumes performed a traditional dance in South Sulawesi, immediately mesmerizing the audience.

During the lunch time, the food booths had long lines for a popular dish like “mi goreng” as well as other unique Indonesian cuisine prepared by Indonesian students and their family.

From beginning to end, the wide variety of games which are traditionally played on Indonesian’s Independence Day, such as Cracker Eating Race and Bakiak (centipede race), were introduced one after another. Participants were excited to see each game going on, sending a huge cheer at both Indonesian and Japanese players.
