On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, President Nishina Hiroshige visited Politeknik Mitra Industri (PMI) in Indonesia and concluded an MoU for Academic Exchange.
The signing ceremony took place at PMI, located in the city of Bekasi on the outskirts of the capital Jakarta. Representing our university were President Nishina, Professor Kobayashi Osamu, Special Aide to the President for International Relations, and Professor Shimagami Motoko of the Institute for International Relations.
Prior to signing the MoU, President Nishina stated, “The philosophy of Politeknik Mitra Industri, which emphasizes practical and international education in collaboration with industry, deeply resonates with Ehime University’s vision of being ‘a university that shines with the community and connects with the world.’ I sincerely look forward to the development of student exchanges and joint educational programs” Director Wikan Sakarinto of PMI stated, “Through collaboration with Ehime University, we will strive to cultivate globally competitive talent.”
PMI is a new vocational training polytechnic established in August 2025 within the MM2100 Industrial Estate in the Jakarta metropolitan area, where numerous Japanese companies have factories and other facilities. It comprises three departments: Information Technology Engineering, Manufacturing Technology Engineering, and Digital Business. The impetus for collaboration between the two universities came from an introduction by Sigit Widodo, an international collaboration advisor of Ehime University who currently serves as President Director of PT. Fukusuke Kogyo Indonesia. This led to a meeting in March this year in Jakarta between Professor Shimagami and Mr. Kobi Yoshihiro, Vice Executive Director of PMI. Subsequently, in May of 2025, Director Wikan and Mr. Kobi visited Ehime University. They held extensive discussions with Professor Mitsunobu Kazuhiro, Vice President and Director of International Relations, and Professor Kobayashi, leading to the signing of the MoU.
Additionally, President Nishina and his delegation visited PT. Fukusuke Kogyo Indonesia, within the MM2100 Industrial Estate, following their visit to Politeknik Mitra Industri, where they exchanged views with President Director Sigit and others.
President Nishina and his team then visited FUKUSUKE INDONESIA, located in the same MM2100 Industrial Park, where they exchanged views with President Sigit and others.
