On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, Md. Daud Ali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Embassy of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in Japan, paid a courtesy visit to President Hiroshige Nishina.
In the meeting between Ambassador Md. Daud Ali and President Nishina, Ambassador Daud Ali first explained about the increasing number of Bangladeshi students studying abroad. Next, the participants from Ehime University explained the status of acceptance of international students at Ehime University and the efforts of the program to promote employment opportunities for international students, followed by an exchange of opinions. Mr. Zoynal Abedin, First Secretary of the Embassy of Bangladesh in Japan, and Mr. Kazuhiro Mitsunobu, Executive Vice President (International Cooperation), Mr. Kenji Hato, Vice President (Regional Cooperation), Mr. Osamu Kobayashi, Special Assistant to the President (International Cooperation), and Mr. Islam Parvez, Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Agriculture attended this meeting.
Ehime University has concluded academic exchange agreements with three universities in Bangladesh and is currently accepting six Bangladeshi students. In April 2025, an international joint research project in Bangladesh, “Introduction of Water Quality Monitoring and Purification Technologies to Reduce Health Risks from Drug Resistant Bacteria in Dhaka Metropolitan Area,” led by Professor Kozo Watanabe of the Center for Coastal and Estuarine Sciences (CMES), was launched by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The project has been selected for the “JST-JICA Science and Technology Research Partnership Program for Global Issues (SATREPS)” jointly implemented by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Ehime University plans to continue academic and student exchanges with Bangladeshi universities and other institutions.
