Department of Comprehensive Policy Making

In the Comprehensive Policy Making Course, students can study a wide range of subjects related to the social sciences, such as law, politics, economics, management, and international relations. Moreover, each course (of the three courses and two special courses) provides a curriculum in which students can study systematically in areas of specialization.

The Evening Course aims to develop people well-educated in the social sciences, who can take part in contemporary society while viewing the world in an integrated manner.

Careers for Graduates

The Department of Comprehensive Policy Making aims to develop people with the ability to discover and solve problems creatively. A wide range of careers are open to graduates.

A system for supporting students in their search, including an internship system, has been developed.

The employment situation by type of work (those who graduated in March, 2008) is finance and insurance (24.1%), service industry (15.9%), manufacturing (14.6%), distribution and marketing (12.7%), government (12.4%), construction and real estate (7.9%), and education or research related/graduate study (2.6%).

Diploma Policy

Students will:

  • Possess a basic knowledge of the social sciences such as law, political science, economics, and management.
  • Be able to identify and analyze logically various topics related to society and organizations.
  • Be able to understand various topics related to society and organizations in relation to themselves and to maintain an active interest in them.
  • Be able, through self-directed study, to fulfill their responsibilities as self-aware members of society.
  • Be able to acquire, analyze, and organize information necessary for solving problems.
  • Be able to explain clearly their own thought and decision processes.

Department of Humanities

The Department of Humanities has initiated a new curriculum composed of five major courses for the pursuit of new knowledge in the humanities and six minor-type programs for increasing the ability to put this knowledge into practice. Turning the acquired knowledge to the wisdom that will enable students to make use of their knowledge even further is necessary in civilized society in the 21st century. By learning through the combination of a major course and a minor-type program, students will discover themselves and succeed in learning that is suited to their goals.

Careers for Graduates

Graduates make use of their insight into culture and society and of their communication ability, based on knowledge of the humanities raised to the level of practical skills in real society. They are active in various fields of employment, such as finance and insurance, the service industry, wholesale and retailing, transportation and telecommunications, construction and real estate, manufacturing, government, education and research, mass communication, publishing, the travel industry, corporations, and translation. In addition, quite a few graduates advance to graduate school in pursuit of further learning.

Students will:

  • Acquire a broad range of learning that will enrich them personally and socially.
  • Understand the academic content and methods of the various humanities.
  • Understand and be able to use the research methods of one of the academic fields of human culture, regional culture, historical culture, or language culture, in regard to a topic he or she has chosen.
  • Be able to turn knowledge of the humanities into practical ability.
  • Be able to meet the needs of regional and international society using knowledge of the humanities.
  • Be able to contribute to the building of a lively culture and a lively society.
  • Be able to listen to others and to express their thoughts precisely both orally and in writing.
